Bachali koora pappu





INGREDIENTS:
Bachali koora...........1/2 bunch
Toor dal.....................1 cup
Green chilly..............2-3
Salt...............as per taste
Curry leaves......1 stalk

Tampering:
Garlic................4 flakes
Gram dal..........1 tsp
Urad dal...........1 tsp
Mustard seeds...1/2 tsp
Jeera/cumin seeds....1/2 tsp
Hing...........1 pinch
Red chilly....4
Few curry leaves

METHOD:Boil toor dal along with chopped Ceylon spinach.Add green chilly and few curry leaves too.Now heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan.Add the tampering.Add the boiled toor dal and spinach.Cook for some time and remove from the stove.Serve with rice or chapathi..


KANDA (YAM)BACHALI




This dish is a traditional one .We used to do it in Kartika Masam That to specially on Mondays.Kartika masam is special for Lord Shiva.In that month we do fasting on Mondays and
on Kartika pournami too.When we are young also we used to fasting and in the evening my mother used to prepare this curry ,moong dal and paravannam(rice pudding).We used to eat these things like we are doing fasting for a long time..:-D.This is my favorite dish ..


INGREDIENTS:
Yam........medium sized one.
Bachali koora.......1/2 bunch
Tamarind paste....1 tsp
Jaggery.........small block or 1 tsp of powder
Salt ................as required

Tampering:
Urad dal......1 tbsp
Gram dal.....1 tsp
Hing.......small block
Green chilly....3
Ginger.......small block
Mustard seeds.....1 tsp
Cumin seeds.....1 tsp
Curry leaves....few
red chilly....3




METHOD:
  • Boil the yam pieces along with chopped bachali.
  • Add jaggery and tamarind paste and a pinch of turmeric to the boiled stuff.
  • Now haet 2 tbsp of oil in a pan and add the ingredients for tampering.
  • When it is done add the bachali kanda mix.Add salt.Cover and cook for sometime.
  • Remove from the stove .Serve hot with rice..
