INGREDIENTS for the CAKE::
All purpose flour...2 1/2 c
Eggs......3
Baking powder...2 tsp
Baking soda...1tsp
Vanilla essence...2 tsp
Butter/Margarine....1c
Sugar...3/4th c
METHOD:
- Heat the oven to 350F.Grease 2 9" round pans .
- Sift flour,baking powder,baking soda together for 3 times.
- In another bowl cream the butter and sugar.
- Add eggs one by one and beat until it mixed well.
- Now add vanilla essence.
- Add the flour mixture and beat well.
- Pour the batter into the pans and bake for 30 min or until a tooth pic inserted comes out clean.
Now For the ICING::
Confectioners sugar....2lb
unsalted butter at room temp::1c
Vanilla essence...1tsp
Warm milk...1/4 thc
Yellow food color,Green food color.
The food color measurement depends on the type of colors' consistency you are using.Here i used very thick consisted food colors .So i used very less amount of it.If u are using very light consistency food colors use 6-8 drops.
In a bowl beat the 1/2 c of butter and 1lb confectioners sugar adding vanilla and 1tbsp of warm milk .For spreading on the cake the consistency of the icing should be very smooth.So use more milk if required. Mix the yellow food color in this.Keep one round cake in the bottom and spread some of the icing and keep another cake on it.Spread the remaining icing on the second one and cover it fully with the yellow icing.
Now beat 1/4th c of butter and 1 lb of icing sugar .Add some warm milk if required .For making the design on the cake don't use much liquid.The consistency should be medium.U can see the icing consistency in this video.
Use tips 16 and 32 for the zigzags and the stars.Use tip 3 for the dots.I used Wilton 25 piece cake decorating set for this.
