Rice........1 cup
Grated Coconut.....1 cup
Chana Dal/Gram dal.....1/4th c
Salt.....as required
For Tampering:
Green chilly........3
Red Chilly...........1
Cashew nuts........6
Chana dal............1 tsp
Urad dal..............1 tbsp
Mustard seeds.....1 tsp
Cumin seeds........1 tsp
Curry Leaves.......8
Hing/asafoetida....1/4th tsp
Oil........................2 tbsp
- Soak the 1/4th cup of chana dal for 3 hours. Wash and boil the chana dal for 20 minutes or until to the point where if u take one in between your fingers and press it should break easily. Drain and keep it aside.
- Wash the rice and cook it in 2 cups of water.
- Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan and fry the ingredients under tampering section.
- Put the flame on low and fry Grated coconut for 5 minutes.
- add the boiled chana dal .
- Add cooked rice and required salt and mix well.
- Turn off the heat.
Serve with favorite chutney.
